Twins 6 weeks old and update

Tomorrow the twinners will be 6 weeks old. I am constantly getting emails, texts, facebook messages etc. asking how things are going and how the babies are growing. I thought I would address the inquiries here.
The babies are growing like weeds. They are fitting into 3+ month clothing which isn't too surprising. Nixon and Cooper were born at 36 weeks and 4 days. The doctors and nurses were astonished that they were 21.5 inches long. That is incredible for twins, especially twins born that early. So in regards to their growth, they are huge! We are hoping for 2 BYU basketball players (look out Jimmer).

They are happy babies, very easy and calm. Yes they cry and get upset, but only if they need something. We almost have them sleeping through the night. They usually just wake up once to eat, and then sleep until morning.
I'm not really a fan of having Tommy help out during the nights. I don't think it's fair to keep him up when he has to go to work in the morning. And really, what can he help with while I'm nursing? So we have a great routine going... he sleeps in the guest room and on the weekends he takes the babies and boys in the mornings and lets me sleep in. It has been working great.
I think we have adjusted really great with the twins. Maybe it's because we have experience with babies. Maybe it's because our twins are easy going. Who knows, but we aren't complaining.

Congratulations Ashton!

This cute boy just got accepted to his first international school! The Nishimachi International School in Tokyo, Japan.
This was our first choice of schools for him to go to. We applied to a few more just in case, but are so happy that this will be the one he will go to!
For the last month we have been deep in the application process for all of these schools. We are talking college type requirements for these schools. They wanted applications, essays, recommendations, family photos, individual photos, screenings and reports from his teachers this year and last, birth certificates, vaccination records etc. It has been very, very stressful.
Normally, this school requires an interview with the applicant (online or in person). But they were so impressed with Ashton that they are holding a spot for him and will just interview him in August right before school starts.
We are waiting to hear from Weston's international preschool still. Yes, we had to apply there too.

Congrats Ashton, we are so proud and excited for you!

Helpers

I don't know what I would do without my 2 older boys!
They are so helpful with the babies and enjoy the tasks I give them.
This morning they took turns washing the babies in the bath.
I am constantly sending Ashton and Weston off to get a binky, diaper, blanket etc.
They are great big brothers and spoil Nixon and Cooper with love.

**Don't mind Ashton's jeans. They were "play" pants and recently got tossed :)

Growing and Growing...

These boys are good eaters!
Nursing has been going great and I am so thankful that they nurse so well-and both at the same time :) Both boys went home from the hospital under 6 lbs. So we have had to take them to the dr. every week for a weigh in. We are all very impressed with their gain. The average baby should gain a half of an ounce per day. Our boys are doing well over that. We are so proud!

Weekly stats:

1 week old-Nixon 6 lbs.
Cooper 6 lbs. 5 oz.

2 weeks old-Nixon 6 lbs 13 oz.
Cooper 7 lbs. 5 oz.

3 weeks old-Nixon 7 lbs. 5 oz.
Cooper 7 lbs. 10 oz.

Nixon and Coopers birth story (the quick version)

Excited for our babies! ( I got a great epidural before the c-section. My anesthesiologist was a Harvard Med. school grad-nuff said!)

My "push present" from Tommy.

Well, the babies will be 2 weeks old tomorrow night. We are so in love with them and have had so much fun these last 2 weeks!
I LOVE not being pregnant. I LOVE fitting into all of my old clothes and having the energy to do things. It has been great!
I was a little nervous about the recovery for a c-section but honestly it has been amazing.
I had natural deliveries with Ashton and Weston and comparing natural vs. a c-section I really think I prefer the c-section-and my other deliveries were easy and great too!
We went into the hospital thinking that we were going the vaginal delivery route but right before the dr. broke my water, we did a quick ultrasound and Cooper had flipped into a breech position. So they prepped me for surgery and the twins were born about 20 minutes later.

Ashton and Weston have been great big brothers. They like to run to the babies at any and every sound that they make. They are good helpers and like to be involved with the dressings, diaper changes and baths. I am lucky to have them help me every day.

Nixon and Cooper are already changing. They are great babies and are already on a schedule. I am able to nurse them at the same time, so it really cuts down on the feeding times. I love having new babies in our house and it has really brought our family closer together.
Our hearts are full.
